Full Text Search Engin FreyaSX

in cooperation with proxy server

FreyaSX is a full-text search engine integrated with a proxy server DeleGate. The engine is developed based on Freya which is originally created by Mr. Masanori Harada. FreyaSX is under development by Y. Sato who is the author of DeleGate.

Extensions

So far, FreyaSX includes the following extensions and modifications.
• porting for recent Gcc and platforms (MacOSX, Linux, ARM-Linux, Windows)
• simplified installation and indexing
• a tenth faster indexer and retriever
• indexing about 100,000 words per second for HTML documents

Installation

What is necessary

- FreyaSX+DeleGate ftp://ftp.delegate.org/pub/freyasx/freyasx-*.tar.gz
   (The tarball is about 2.8MB but about 2.3MB is for DeleGate)
- C++ compiler and standard Unix commands
   (on Windows, only bulding with VC++ and Cygwin is supported)

Installation procedure (it takes several minutes)

$ tar xfz freyasx-*.tar.gz
$ cd freyasx
$ sh INSTALL.sh
## here set environment variables PATH, FSXHOME and DGROOT as shown by INSTALL.sh
$ fhttpd -fv -P8880
## fhtted is an alias of DeleGate for FreyaSX. The option "-fv" means running DeleGate in foreground. After you assured it works, run it without "-fv". Also, you can specify any port insted of 8880 by -P option.

Make an index of your mail folders and search in it

$ any2fdif -r $HOME/Mail | findex mail
[open in your browser] http://host:8880/fsx/search?index=mail


Download the contents of a remote server and search in it

$ any2fdif -r http://www.delegate.org/freyasx | findex sx
$ fsearch sx "freya*"
[open in your browser] http://host:8880/fsx/search?index=sx
